The Iron Lady
A poem I did to amuse a friend back in 2011
Some say she was made of iron but for me she was a lady
Beautiful and strong and a little bit shady
She closed down Wales with their pits of old
And in South Yorkshire Scargill was told
The Argies had a pop but she sent them packing
Hundreds dead on the Belgrano she thought it was cracking
The Yanks seemed to love her and with Regan she saw
A way to end the very Cold War
Next came the Irish who got very close
But she came through the dust still tougher than most
U turn if you want the party listened like puppies
Sold council houses and companies and created the yuppies
Then I turned 18 in March 1990
The month before the Poll Tax, payable by each person
The fucking old witch, £50 a month - and its only just started
I'm so bloody glad she's now dearly departed
