My Ode to The Food Chain
I like poetry.
I must admit, I don't really consume or read much of it, but sometimes I do and sometimes I love it.
On this site, I've posted some I like, and some I have written (mostly for shits and giggles).
This is one I wrote for from the perspective of bleak humour, its my ode to the food chain:

Mary had a little lamb
She also had a bear
Jesus was a shepherd
He turned water into wine and fed 5,000 people
Countryfile is my Sunday night viewing
The green and pleasant land looks beautiful and romantic
The land on which we keep animals is a waste, food security would be archived in better ways
But farmers, they say they are all about our food seurity
Farmers keep sheep, they also keep cows.
A noble occupation and a tough way to make a life, they stare into the distance across fields
People need to be fed, we need growers
Livestock owners provide my food
Intensive farming makes more profit, uses more antibiotics
Has lower animal welfare standards, but the money….
Greenhouse gasses are released when cows fart
Rainforests are cut down to produce their food
To produce milk we impregnate cows, we take their young despite their grieving
We kill the males as they cannot be used in future
Chickens deprived of access to the world
Their shit pollutes rivers and kills life
Animals are driven to the slaughter house
Their stress and fear similar to yours
If they’re lucky a bolt is fired against their forehead to stun and calm them
Before their throat is slit
Their guts will still empty in fear
The smell of excrement and urine must be quite intence
Their back legs are clamped and they are hung upside down to bleed out
Fortunately this method means you must only be aware of dying for a few minutes
Stomachs must be split carefully so that guts fall to the floor
Its contents would contaminate even further
In these unsanitary conditions people work long days, they won’t be paid much
Hacking the carcass into more manageable parts
The debris that drops won't go to waste
These still have value and will be processed and sold
Frozen, chopped, processed and packaged
They are sent to the supermaket
In the supermarket the shelves are full
I can pick food from every country in the world
The plastic containers are clean and neat
Each one presented for me to eat
As long as I don’t mind about destroying the planet
Or people starving to death while I have too much food
Everythings fine
