Earth Day 2021 - 22 April 2021

I can't change the world but decided to add a new page to the website saying what changes I have made, and those I still could make, to be more environmentally conscious. I'll keep updating it as I make changes.

During the Covid pandemic we made great sacrifices to try and reduce the number of people who died.

But we do very little to change our habits that are destroying the planet.

As a result, our children and grandchildren will have daily deaths as a result of what we’ve done far greater than what we’ve experienced, and their restrictions and sacrifices will be far greater than shops being shut.

But we don’t really care about that and we do nothing about it.

Our economic system has gone wrong before where great sufferings were caused by the 1% globally wealthy individuals and corporations. Those same individuals and corporations that we see in the news and hold up as great entrepreneurs and amazing employers.

How would we behave if we lived in Edward Colston's time? Would we be amazed at his sugar and coco products and marvel at what a generous and kind man he was while he got richer and richer and we continued to suffer and live in poverty while others died? Or with hindsight, would we call him out and demand that its stopped?

In the end, history will view things differently and the elites get dragged into the square for the guillotine or the slave trade leads to civil war and is abolished and slave trader statues are pulled down 300 years later.

If we’re lucky, we stop them through protest and democracy and a rebalancing and correction of globally inequality, But normally it’s revolution and war.

No wonder our anxiety and suicide rates are through the roof! And all the while, some people are getting richer off the back of our suffering.
